TALKING ABOUT PREFERENCES


Mum: Where do you want to go on holiday this summer?
Eloi: Er, I know, let's go to Alaska!
Mum: Alaska? I'd rather go to New York.
Eloi: But it's hot there. Why can't we go to skiing?
Mum: We cold stay in a hotel.
Eloi: No, I don't like that idea.

ASKING FOR AND GIVING ADVICE

Marc: Hey, Eloi. Are you OK?
Eloi: No, I don't feel very well.
Marc: Why, what's wrong?
Eloi: I've got a stomachache.
Marc: Have you taken an aspirin?
Eloi: Yes, I have but I still feel terrible.
Marc: Wll, you should phone your parents.

You really shouldn't do maths!
Eloi: Yes, I suppose you're right.


ASKING FOR PERMISSION

Marc: Dad, can I go skiing with Paco?
Eloi: Yeah, sure.
Marc: Cool. Oh, and then can I go to the park?
Eloi: No, you can't.
Marc: Why not?
Eloi: Because it's Monday night, and you've got school tomorrow.
Marc: Ok. One more thing, can i borrow some money?
Eloi: Yeah, Ok. I'll lend you 10$. But I'll only lend you the money if you promise to tidy your room when you get back. Here you go.
Marc: Ok. I will. Thanks, Eloi.




AGREEING AND DESAGREEING

Eloi: What's your favourite computer game, Marc?
Marc: I really like FIFA 08.
Eloi: So do I. I think that it's a great game.
Marc: Do you know the game WORMS?
Eloi: Yes, but I don't like it.
Marc: Neither do I. It's boring.

Eloi: Really? I don't think so. I prefer violent games or sports games.
